Thomson grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area in the 60s–the rich epicenter of music that defined his generation. He took up the guitar and wrote his first song after watching the Beatles perform on the Ed Sullivan Show. His Mother was a classically trained pianist and organist. She played music in the church and didn’t approve of playing Beatles music or rock and roll for that matter. Not to be deterred, he learned the guitar in secret paying for lessons from his paper route money.

So, for many years, much like learning to play the guitar, songwriting was his own secret obsession and creative distraction from the hectic pace of the corporate world, running a business and raising a family. But music and songwriting was always there in background – a muse whispering to him, luring him on.

Thomson Dawson writes songs about the moments that shape us — the choices, doubts, small victories, and quiet resilience it takes to keep going when life says quit.

A lifelong creative and independent artist, his music blends acoustic warmth, storytelling lyrics, and melodies that feel lived-in rather than manufactured.
